The misnomer "watermarking" on some upholstery fabrics are actually dirt and minerals that have been moved to the peremeters of a cleaner area. The nature of some fabrics make this very hard to remove. (in fact some fabrics can be used to filter water from gasoline and can actually gather MORE minerals from water applications than before cleaning).
Distilled water usually carries NO additional minerals into the cleaning and can thus remove more than ordinary water.
