I know the aluminum waste tanks are prone to breaking down and leaking. Is this much less of a concern for fresh water tanks with no chemistry in them?

I am about to begin using my fresh water tank a lot more as things freeze up here. I hope my tiny 4.8L V8 can handle it. Anyways I am wondering how much of an issue it may become if I just top off the water in it each day (rather than draining it and letting it dry out often) for the next 5 months, considering the potential for pitting and breakdown and leaking....

The aluminum recovery tanks leak from the high ph waste water sitting in the bottom of the tanks. I doubt the fresh water tanks would have the same dilemma.

Rinse waste tanks out at the end of the day whenever possible. The minerals, cleaning chemicals, and GKW in waste water will have a corrosive effect on aluminum.

We see such a wide variety of recovery tank lifetimes in the same machines, at the same age, in the same region. It really comes down to how well the tanks are kept rinsed and clean.

I had a custom built aluminum 140 gallon fresh water tank about 30 years ago. A local wine tank builder built it for me . It was designed to set the same way your machine does , across the back of the van against the driver and passenger seats. Bolted to the floor and a large angle iron beam that was welded to the door posts. It had a household cartridge filter installed on it that was constantly clogging with white crystal corrosion. It wasn't made of marine grade aluminum was how i wrote the problem off in my head also it was pretty heavy compared to a plastic tank. I personally would not go aluminum again
