As the very wise Howard Partridge says, "Networking is the prerequisite to Referral Marketing".
If you can't network and get people to like you by your display of professionalism, presentation, attitude, etc., than how can you get a client to refer you.
Business Networking works great at developing relationships that can turn into Powerful Referral Alliances. I network a lot, and though it is not necessarily to my Target Market/Client, the relationships I develop sometimes act as a bridge to the type of client I like to service.
