I'm happy to see that you have some passion for real rugs
Yep, that's needed for the patience required to learn to inspect and identify a rug's construction, for several reasons:
1 - Knowing what the rug is and how it's made keeps you from learning the expensive way.
2- Allows you to figure out how to clean something you've never seen before.
3 - Can give you a higher level of perceived knowledge in the eye of your customer.
Spend as much time as you want learning about high-value Persian rugs, but understand they'll be the minority of the rugs you clean. They're also least likely to be the ones that bite. Those are the ones you have to know.
