it's pay-per-click now. Lowest offer is $325/month. Only $200 goes towards you click portion. $125 is your "fixed cost". Good for Yelp.....

Angies list and yelp are becoming a real PITA..

Angieslist has been calling and calling, then recently they lect a VM, hi this is ****** calling from the corporate offices of angies list, it is important you return the call reference number *************.. I call back, sales man trying to sell deals.. Meaning I offer a special deal on my site.. if I don't offer special deals then those slots on my profile will be offered to competing companies. Hmm, I wonder, as good a rating as I?

Angieslist is so bogus.... Yelps filtering system sucks donkey ass!

They've had paper click for a little while now but are you saying that everyone is going to have to do that?

If so I haven't heard anything about it as of yet

don't know anything other then that's what they offered me yesterday. I don't have a current paid campaign with them; and never have for that matter. Apparently Mike is happy in his bubble.

I don't know why people get so caught up in the semantics with these online companies it comes down to ROI if I spend $500 and get $2000k in biz I don't care what they did with the $500...they can buy a hooker for $499 and spend $1 on advertising for all I care as long as I get an exceptable ROI on my investment.

So are you getting that ROI with Yelp?

Can't answer that because there is no way to track 100% where your call actually comes from. Unless you don't do any advertising at all. Ofer is partially correct though you just need to set a budget for promoting your business and try to track as best you can. You can ask every client where they found you and they might say "the internet" well that may be how their neighbor told them to find you or they may have seen your van or print or radio ad. Referrals rule, ask for them, they are worth there weight in gold.

hmmm... anyone track how customers heard about you? I would be interested in what the ROI is on yelp. Because Yelp is telling me its $29,000 worth of business just from my "free" listing. I have never been a fan of yelp, actually have protested against using it, but am now tempted. The prices are ridiculous, does anyone pay for this and actually get good results?

Can't stand yelp... they are very aggressive, I'd that is the word for it, with their marketing.
They call at least every 2 or 3 months., and I've noticed at the 3 month mark some of my filter reviews will be added on and then when I don't sign, new ones are removed.

After all this time I said I wouldn't use Yelp, we gave in 2 days ago. We began running ads on it to see. We figure we can't just be blasting peoples facebooks forever. Shitty part is, some guy that was trying to sell me yelp ads, because they did used to call 2 to 3 a month, if not more, offered me $100 in ad credits. I called yelp and asked for this coupon code to apply the $100 and they said they don't do that. I sent them a screen shot of how much we spend on Facebook and they still didn't. BS.

I think of it as a casino: Bring us the money and gamble (on our ads working or not), but we aren't willing to comp you $100 to check us out. Twitter and Linked in offer ad credits up to $150 to begin with them. I've always hated Yelp because of the "untrusted reviews" section filtering our good reviews, but now I hate them more. Yet, I'm still throwing $300 at them to see if we generate anything.

I did the advertising with yelp...Lame!

They promise an enhanced web page with no ads if you$$$$ what they really mean is no top ad but plenty of paid ads on the right lower side all targeting your service!
While I was a customer I had several reviews that yelp wouldn't post to my page to this day i have no review there and from clients that live 1/2 hour away from my shop. Yet, a local cleaner has glowing carpet cleaning reviews from people in LA, San Francisco, Arizona, Colorado nice service area! When I used the yelp map and searched for "rug cleaning" in my area we never showed us until after I canceled their service.

It seems to work for some but I wasn't impressed.

I've only advertised with them once and realized it wasn't working and they let me cancel after 1 week, this was back in 2010 so I'm sure things have changed. I think businesses are not understanding what Yelp is about: the reviews, not who is at the top. The first thing new customers tell me is they called because of the reviews, I use Yelp for restaurants, service, etc. I look at the reviews not who's on top of the sponsored top part
