So I signed up with Yelp 4-5 years ago making my page and grabbing my 5 free areas.

@Mikey P was saying grab it and use it.

He also mentioned paying $300 a month for so many searchs and how well that worked.

Well I grabbed my page, got some reviews and didn't start paying to advertise for the first couple years getting decent results as the phone books dried up.

I eventually got the same $300 deal for 500 searchs.

A year later I increased to $500 for 1100 searchs which, like Mike said was mostly for a bunch of impressions that weren't always for carpet cleaning.

This year I was out my yearly contract and went back down to the $300 500 searchs.

I have about 47 reviews with 20 plus filtered and no one else around me has more then 15.

Well my account specialist is calling again and they want to change me to a pay per click which gives you much better results.

And can't believe I'm still on that old program.

I'm very wary to change. I like where I'm at.

I also feel if I wasn't spending anything I would still do real well.

Oh and if I didn't say it thanks Mike, Yelp was the best tip you gave me personally for my business over the last 5 years it's paid hugely.

Yelp is used on iPhone as the search engine, yahoo use it now to.

Most yelpers do research and don't haggle.

Yelp has top links on the first page of google.

Stay where you're at.

Tell your manager you love yelp but can't take on anymore work.

Don't pissed them off, they can f with you.

I kinda said that I'm tempted to cut advertising because, my son left for Northrop and I'm to busy until I can get another employee.

Actually he's been gone for 4 weeks and it's been my best 4 weeks ever.

Should've fired him sooner.

But don't tell my account rep.

IMO in my area Yelp has lost crediability. It has alienated people with their precieved extortion tactics and filtering of reviews.
Seems to be mostly younger price shoppers on Yelp.
Each time i increased spending with yelp the performance decreased.
Their search engine sucks and is designed solely to generate billable views and clicks which rips off business owners and waste users time.. I think because of this people perfer to use google as their search engine.
