Since the majority of owner/ops are "independent sorts" who like to do things their way and tend to live life in chaos and instability, have a tough time holding jobs, most gravitate to a woman who will create stability in their lives and careers. When she's gone, they fall all to hell and tend to fall prey to "post-divorce irresponsibility syndrome".

Yes, there are exceptions, but not many.
