Vacuum Blower Question For The Brainiacs........

While I was changing the blower belts on my Genesis 59 last week, I noticed that the blower, with out any belts, would turn quite freely. Is this normal?? Wouldn't there be some type of back pressure?? Now there where no hoses attached, and the waste tank lid was off. But wouldn't there be some resistance to turning the blower by hand??

The blower should turn freely by hand- with no load.

The impellers do not touch the walls- there should be a slight gap there.

The only resistance should be in the bearings and gears. VERY little resistance.

Shouldn't be, RW.
Least not much beyond spinning the lobes and gear mesh resistance .
(edit.. as Gary mentioned)
You can't spin it fast enough by hand to really create any pressure.
If it was hard to turn by hand, I'd suspect something was wrong
