Ceiling cleaning,

With carpet cleaning slowing down my wife wants me to repaint the kitchen which hasn't been done and probably 15 years, what is the best way to clean the ceiling?
Tools sponges etc I have a bad shoulder that bothers me if I reach over my head for too long.

smooth or textured ceiling?

either/or...if not dripping with deep fryer grease, candle soot or nicotine, dust down with a broom and give it two coats of quality paint.
It'll be fine
