What are the chances that someone with little to no experience would want to buy a carpet cleaning business?

I started out to buy one 3 years when I decided that I wanted to get back into this, and knew some of the things to look for. A newbie or uneducated buyer could get burnt really quick.

How would you manage 5 employees to do something that you have never done before or know the correct way it should be done?

Lastly, for the ones that are up for sale now (let's say $300K sales and less) what do you think is the percentage of them actually being sold in this environment. With consumer lending at a standstill, I can only imagine how bad the commercial lending has gotten.

My guess is the vast majority of them are self-liquidating, either voluntarily or through failed owner-financed deals. That's what happens to most even in the good times, let alone the environment we're in now.
