Since my original post I’ve decided to switch targets. At least for now. I’m looking at commercial now since I don’t think residential is going to be that busy with the virus going around. If I’m wrong correct me.

you need good vacuum for either
175 for prescrubbing and encapping (agitation levels the playing field against more powerful setups)
name brand chems
I'd personally buy a portable over a TM for commercial for starting out, just understand the limitations and stay away from greasy restaurants with a porty

you have to figure out want you want to be first
You're all over map
swung from half million dollar home res to porty in Pinto small com

You're not ready for tools
You need to settle your biz model and what work you're going to go after in the next 6 months .
THEN you'll know what tools will serve best

If you want to "dabble" in the biz right now til you figure it out, buy any $1500-$2000 clamshell design porty with an AW29 wand, 50ft of vac hose and solution line.
PMF internal jet Upl tool w/hide-a-hose ($149)
pump sprayer, (Solo brand is as good as any) a handful of 1qt trigger sprayers
$500 in Prochem carpet chems (start with the best)
a couple 5gal buckets

and just get on with it...

No I know. After reading everything here I got way more confused with everything. We’re restarting the biz plan, definitely not jumping in without a solid guideline to follow. Thanks for the tips in tools and stuff, I’ll look into them after we’ve redone the business plan.

Don't rule out Mike's offer either
he's one of the best in the biz

BUTT..he ain't cheap .
so here's what you do

Stroke his ego first
then play on his heart strings ..like saying your beloved family bull dog needs $3000 in vet bills to live and it's a choice between that or your kids going hungry..

He'll prob'ly haul that new Monsoon he's getting down to you along with dog biscuits

Don't rule out my offer....
To be honest I didn’t know if that was sincere or not! Hahaha. I mean shit, it sounds like a hell of an offer to be trained by one of the best directly. But it also sounds like a very hefty cost. Where are you based by the way?

I'v been cleaning for years and I would take mikes offer if he'd come to seattle. If you go porty get a water otter, and small fuel burner, around 2200-2500 bucks for both. Now you can do tile and grout and greasy restaurants. And clean carpet like a pro. Just a slow pro.

Water otter- pump on a motor. Amazon has different ones. I used a small gas pressure washer when my catpump froze one winter. One less cord. The burner can run off an inverter from the van.

is there a better place to come together and give out ideas, share experiences, give advice on a business idea, business plan, business strategies, marketing, buy the right tools then hug one another, hold hands (6ft apart) and sing Kumbaya with your face mask? It’s best to do all this around midnight while sipping on Budweiser, snacking on peanuts and burping all at the same time. Best time to share truthful advice.
I learned quite a bit my self.
has everything been covered? What else is left?

glad I don’t drink...might haveta after all this work.

Heres a tip if you do residential. Run the portable outside the front door and bring the hoses inside for the work.

$1200 a day plus expenses, line up all the neighbors you can get.

I'll even let you keep a new 400 psi Monsoon if the timing is right...
As cool as it sounds it’s gonna have to be a pass. I know you’d teach a lot of shit they won’t at IICRC but it’s a big expense. What I’ve learned the most from here is I got a lot of other crap to figure out before I dive into anything.

Hahahah I don’t think there’s a better place for it. I need a few cold ones after all of this! I think I’ve learned quite a bit for now. There’s still plenty more I don’t understand but I’m not gonna ask right now. I’m gonna get my business plan in order, figure out equipment, and go from there.
